# Foraging & Hunting The [[Downloads#Zines|Worldwide Adventure Generator]]'s exploration loop grew out of the *ultra-light* wilderness exploration rules found in ***Fantasy Rules***, which state only that: >"Characters may perform Perception Checks to search for... foraged food (1-in-5 chance), and hunted food (1-in-10 chance). If characters dedicate the entire day to foraging or hunting, they automatically succeed in finding foraged food enough for the party for the day and increase their chances of finding hunted food (1-in-5) enough for the party for 1d5 days." These optional rules adapt this passage to the Worldwide Adventure Generator, and may be used in lieu of **Table F: Discovery** at the party's discretion, or may be invoked on the roll of a 1 on Table F. Characters may dedicate the following intervals of time to foraging and hunting in a hex: **One hour** – uses the first set of odds (1-in-5/1-in-10) and does not reduce travel speed/consume movement points. **Two hours** – 1-in-2/1-in-5 chance and reduces travel speed by half/consumes one movement point. **Four hours** – automatic success/1-in-2 chance and no travel occurs/consumes two movement points. **Note:** I will eventually put some tables together for this (and also add "game" as an example in Table F so that this process can be invoked during the standard Discovery phase too) but it will nevertheless run smoothly without them (GMs need only to know what forage and game is available in the area).
