## The Rookery (Hex 0605.01) Perched over the banks of Snake River, the Rookery is a thriving community consisting of shipwrecked travelers and the makeshift structures comprising their homes. Cobbled together over many generations by its enterprising residents using the scavenged remnants of their ships, they spiral up the trunks of hulking trees and into the canopy above. The years have been kind to these lost souls, and the Rookery has developed into surprisingly modern accommodations with nearly all the comforts of home. ![[the-rookery.webp]] ### Tables #### Random Encounters Approximately 45-50 people call the Rookery home, many of them having been born on the island and some of them 5th generation descendants of ### Lore If a PC starts a conversation with a resident of the Rookery, depending on their seniority, they may provide the following insights: >"The island cannot be found because it cannot be sought after—it is unknown to all! No legends, no maps, no tall tales. Its existence is *the* most guarded secret, kept by every force of nature—every beast and plant and strand of fog that slithers down the emerald mountainside. Even now, I feel it, wary of our diminutive share in this forbidden knowledge and resentful of our presence. I believe that if we found a way off this island tomorrow, the otherwise congenial natives would rend us to pieces—every man, woman, and child—for the sake of that secret, the likes of which not even they are permitted to share in."
